![]() See the Brains Behind the Eyes AVT has already achieved a technological leadership position in this quest. Leveraging the world's most sophisticated machine vision technologies-derived from Electro-optical breakthroughs of the Israeli Air Force and advanced image processing expertise originating in some of Israel's world-renowned companies-AVT has developed proprietary technology and advanced commercial products that meet the key challenges of the printing industry. These challenges include a lack of automation, long production set-up cycles, wasted materials, and inadequate process and quality controls. The company has developed integrated solutions for improving print quality via on-line automatic monitoring, inspection, alert, and other vision-based press controls for both the Packaging printing and Labels Printing markets. AVT's flagship platform, PrintVision/Jupiter for Packaging Printing, is an advanced video-based inspection system that automatically detects defects in various types of printing processes. The system eliminates the need for human operator judgment to visually monitor and inspect print output. For the Label Printing market, AVT developed the PrintVision/Helios, an automatic 100% inspection system for quality assurance workflow. The system can be mounted on press for in-line inspection or on a rewinder for post press handling.
In October 2007 AVT acquired GMI.
GMI has developed unique technologies enabling it to provide solutions for the most advance and accurate print color control, including ColorQuick, the first and only in-line dual beam spectrophotometer, and Microcolor, a unique digital servo based remote ink control technology. Based on these technologies, GMI has developed a wide range of added value software packages enabling the unique capability for Commercial and Newspaper offset web printers to achieve predicable printed color that matches their customers’ expectations. The combination of the GMI in-line spectrophotometer and its advanced process control software allows GMI to provide Press Analysis and Color Manager Reporting that ties art creation, pre-press, and multiple web presses together with meaningful industry-standard print characteristic information. This information provides the unique capability for a Commercial Web printer to delivery consistent color from press to press and plant to plant. The AVT Group had since then has been creating new, combined technologies that will enhance the value of the product offerings in each market segment. AVT advanced image analysis is expected to be key to expanding the GMI closed loop color control product offerings in the Commercial and Newspaper web market segments. And GMI dual beam spectrophotometer and closed loop algorithms are expected to be critical to expanding AVT product penetration in the Label, Packaging and Folding Carton markets. The integration of AVT and GMI technologies are expected to positively impact the time to market for all market segments.
Characterized by high sensitivity and ease of operation, the PrintVision & GMI family of systems dramatically increases output quality and management control while cutting material waste and enhancing labor efficiency. AVT products are applicable to every form of continuous web printing, including Gravure, Flexo and Offset presses for such diverse applications as packaging, labels, and commercial printing. AVT has achieved its unsurpassed level of innovation with a multi-disciplinary team of professional, scientists and engineers, 70% of whom hold advanced degrees in the fields of image processing, software, and process automation. AVT is a public company listed in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The company is based in Israel, with marketing, sales and support offices in the United States and Europe.
