What is an Array Camera?

An array camera is a type of digital camera in which several rows of sensors are arranged in a rectangle. If the light projected on this rectangle of sensors is sampled in nearly the same moment, the image detected will be visually similar the images seen on traditional photographic film: That is a rectangular “scene” or “picture”. This is the most common arrangement of sensors in both industrial and consumer digital cameras.
