What is a Doctor Machine?
A doctor machine is usually, a machine that applies coatings to printed materials during a finishing process. The machine commonly will include rollers moving at adjustable speeds, possibly in adjustable directions, that will wipe or apply fluids as coatings onto the surface of the print material. These are called “doctor” rollers. Other finishing operations such as slitting or embossed or laminating may also be done as part of the same process. So, a wide variety of such doctoring stations are operated in packaging manufacturing plants.
