What is an I.R. (Infrared) Dryer?

An I.R. dryer is an assembly that uses the light from the near-visible-red wavelengths  (typically about 300 nanometers to 430 nanometers) to initiate drying of inks or coatings.  These are the wavelengths which are generally perceived as ‘heat’ and so will cause ‘drying’ via evaporation or polymerization of many commonly formulated emulsions.
