AVT’s WorkFlow Link (WFL) solution for the packaging market offers superior process control and efficient waste removal throughout the entire print production flow. WFL eliminates the need for manual inspection and flagging, enabling converting and finishing machinery to run at maximum speed and only stop at the relevant defects to remove and splice. The solution carefully tracks and controls the removal of defective material, from printing and lamination, to rewinding, slitting and doctoring processes, to deliver quality print jobs.

WorkFlow Link provides the necessary connection and synchronization between printing and finishing, offering a variety of system components designed to meet various workflow and production needs.

 

Printing

Inspection platforms on the printing press detect process defects as soon as they appear, enabling operators to perform immediate corrective action. All printing faults, including random defects, are automatically recorded in the system’s database for removal downstream, prior to shipping the final product.

 

Quality Assurance

Data editing is quick and easy, performed on a dedicated editing station or at any stage in the process, in accordance with QA standards. Edited data enables operators to decide which areas of the material should be removed and on which finishing machine.

 

Laminator

An advanced solution for waste removal and for tracking laminated rolls, the WFL tracker effectively tracks the amount of output rolls and material length throughout the lamination process. The WFL tracker can also be used to remove large quantities of waste in lamination.

 

Slitter-Rewinder

Using inspection data from the press, the WFL rewinder station automatically controls and stops the rewinder on cross-lane, defective material positions for waste removal. The process accelerates finishing machine speed by eliminating the need for operator inspection, reducing the number of stops to a minimum. Once the roll is finished, the system displays which of the slitted daughter rolls are defective is defective or needs further analysis at the doctoring station, while finished daughter rolls are ready to be shipped

 

Doctoring Machine

WFL’s doctoring machine station automatically controls and stops the doctor machine only on defective packages relevant to specific slitted rolls to ensure defect-free print jobs. WFL accelerates doctoring machine speed by eliminating the need for operator manual inspection, guaranteeing that problematic random faults are removed prior to shipping.

 

  • Early detection of print process defects using 100% inspection on press, enables operators to perform immediate corrective action to avoid printing waste, preventing costly errors and re-prints. At the same time, all data is logged into the database and can be used in conjunction with the Workflow link end to end solution.

 

  • Complete tracking of all printed material and rolls, from printing to finishing and shipment

 

  • Increases finishing machine speed and efficiency by eliminating the need to stop operation for every suspected defect, enabling operators to run machines at full capacity, automatically slowing down for real defects only

 

  • Automatically controls/stops the rewinder based on data from the press, including automatic identification of every roll, while end-to-end traceability allows for complete tracking of rolls and waste throughout the entire print process

  • Integration to waste turrets enables quick and easy waste removal on any WFL station, connecting to manual/automatic waste turrets for efficient removal of defective material

 

  • Inkjet numbering enables removal of waste in large quantities at any stage during the converting process, used to update the removed material, roll length and exact location to automatically stop at the next defect location

 

  • PrintFlow Central provides automatic storage of inspection data from all AVT 100% inspection systems in a single computer (operating as a server), ensuring continuous availability of inspection data for PrintFlow Manager and on all WFL stations.
