How AVT Argus Works
AVT Argus captures random, and process print problems, visually indicating the position and type of defect, and marking them for further analysis, archiving, and reporting. The system detects print defects, including color variations, mis-registration, streaks, ink splashes, and misprints.

Argus E Turbo HD offers a unique combination of state-of-the art vision technologies to facilitate the highest level of inline Process Control and Quality Assurance. Argus E Turbo HD significantly reduces waste and related production costs, giving a rapid return on investment (ROI).
Optional Add-On Modules
Register and Pressure Control automatically adjust color plates for precise registration and optimal pressure. These modules efficiently correct large initial misregistration and pressure errors, quickly achieving fine accuracy while minimizing setup time and waste.
JobRef Enables job verification at the setup stage by automatically comparing the job to the original, customer-approved digital PDF file.
MasterRef Prevents production errors and reduces waste by enabling printers to save a master image of each job, which is later used to verify that repeat jobs are identical to the original.
Varnish Inspection The 100% Varnish Inspection module enables viewing and inspection of clear varnish and coating on various printed substrates such as flexible films, carton, and paper. It enables inspection of varnish mis-register, varnish misprint, varnish splashes in non-varnish areas and more.
Rite Seal (Coldseal) for area camera ensures accurate alignment of the cold seal print with the printed image, helping to reduce material waste caused by misregistration. The Rite Seal application offers an overlaid front-to-back view, showing the cold seal print in relation to the printed image.
Continuous and Random Monitoring Classifies and generates alerts on process defects and random defects in a clear and intuitive way, helping the operator quickly identify production issues and apply corrective actions.
Low Contrast Monitoring Performs continuous inline monitoring for low contrast print anomalies such as hazing and repeated color irregularities for improved process control.
RLT (Repeat Length Trend) Performs continuous inline monitoring for the length of the repeat, enabling the press operator to ensure the web is always correctly aligned and prevent image distortions due to web shifts.
AutoSet Powered by Esko Automation Engine, AutoSet effectively eliminates job-setup tasks and quality hazards by connecting prepress to the inspection system in the press room, thus enabling true closed-loop color and content inspection.
ProMIS Supports simple, quick and secure setup processes by enabling bi-directional communication with MIS(ERP) systems in the print production environment.
Offline Setup Standardizes inspection results and enhances quality consistency, with an offline job set-up management station that supports all production lines.
Barcode Verification 100% of the printed barcodes are decoded and tested for readability, print defects and quality, as well as verified and graded according to ANSI (A, B, C, D or F, subject to product spec). Thresholds can be easily set to alert on barcode quality issues.
ABCv (Area Camera Barcode) automatically locates, inspects, and verifies horizontal or vertical barcode symbols anywhere on the printed repeat. The ABC√ identifies and verifies all barcode quality parameters and grades them according to ANSI and CEN international verification standards.
Workflow Link Transfers quality data from the press to the rewinder for efficient removal of defective material; automatically stops rewinder at the defect location.
PrintFlow Manager Collects PrintFlow data from all AVT platforms, providing easy, remote access for managers directly from their desktop PCs, and enabling offline roll editing for better consistency and quality standardization.
PrintFlow Central Central automatic storage of job data and roll reports; supports central backup of all data, enabling continuous availability of inspection data for PrintFlow Manager/WorkFlow Link
SpectraLab XF An inline, ISO -standard, dual-beam spectrophometer that measures color in dedicated color patches and in image areas, enabling absolute, accurate L *a*b*, density, and dot gain measurement, enhanced reporting, and real-time processing control.
IΔeal Performs inline Delta E color measurements anywhere on the image, during and in parallel to print inspection, and displays a graphic view of color differences, and reports statistics.
